Pictures From 8-12-13

Letter From 8/12/13

I've started driving! It's so weird driving after months of not being allowed to.

And then this week I extended a baptismal invitation to someone for the first time!!! I know, isn't that sad? It's always been my companion who's done it. But it was really cool, we were on exchanges and so Sister Jasper was elsewhere while I stayed in Fairview with another sister who's on her second transfer. We took one of our investigators and his daughter to the Mormon Trail Center with a couple of members. Because of course I'd served there last transfer, I was able to take them on tour and really focus it on James' (the investigator) needs. He'd been having questions about the plan of salvation, so I really focused on the temple and it's blessing when talking about the pioneers, and how they were able to keep going when they lost loved ones because they knew they would see with them again. Then we went over to the cemetery and the temple, and I asked him if he wanted to live with his family forever and receive all the blessings the pioneers had. He said yes! So I told him all he needed to do to get those blessings was ask for them and do what Heavenly Father asked him to do. Then I asked him if he would be baptized and he said yes! Bam! It was soooo cool! I could feel the spirit guiding me the whole time, and it was just super amazing! Now I can say that the first time I asked someone to be baptized was in front of the temple. It's so awesome!

So you want to know about my area, huh? Honestly, there's not much to tell. It's just a quiet little neighborhood. We live near an air force base (OFFUT. What it stands for, I have no idea), so most everyone works in the military and lives in "base housing." So that's kinda cool. We'll go to people's houses and ask where they work, and their like "yeah, I'm the director of communications and radar scanning for the air force. I've lived in Florida, Japan, and England. I can't really tell you anything else, though, it's classified. I'm not allowed to be hypnotized for 66 years because of it." Beats McDonalds, that's for sure. :) Other than that, though, it's pretty normal.

So stuff that happened this week...honestly, nothing really. Well, I lied, I gave a dog a bath for the first time! Washing poo out of Buttercup's fur, that was so much fun. Lol!

We have a few progressing gators right now, but they're all kind of stuck right now. The members are super nice, so we have lots of fun EMVs (Effective Member Visits). Other than that, though, life's in the slow lane right now. It sounds like your lives are more exciting right now. :)

Letter from 7-29-13

Okay, so the night before I left for the MTC, I was sleeping in Kayli's room and she had Beauty and the Beast music playing. Now I've had those songs stuck in my head since! We (Sister Anders on and I, I forgot to tell you about this earlier) even made a Holdrege/Beauty and the Beast song parody!

Little town, it's a quiet village
Every day like the one before
Little town full of little people
Waking up to say
Get lost! Get lost! Get lost! Get lost! Get lost!
There goes the farmer with his corn like always

Can we help you with that mister?
Every morning just the same
Since the morning that we came
To this tiny rural town
"Good morning Sisters!"
"Good morning!"
"Where're you off to?"
"West Avenue. Can we tell you the most wonderful story about the Nephites and the Lamanites?"
"Oh, that's nice, Marie! The baggets! Hurry up!"
Now it's no wonder that they're missionaries
Their spirit's got no parallel
But behind the spirit of God
I'm afraid their rather odd
You're a mystery to the rest of us, Sisters

Good day, God bless, how is your family?
Good day, God bless, how is your wife?
I need six eggs, there's Dollar General
There must be someone who wants Eternal Life!

Hehe, we never did finish it. Oh well.

Well, like I just told Dad, there's not a whole lot of news from over here. Just a few things, like we got to go see "Come Home to Kanesville" (a musical play about the pioneers) at the Kanesville Tabernacle in Iowa. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you, I went to Iowa! I actually gave tours there as well as the Mormon Trail Center. Look it up! :) So I can now say that the farthest East I've ever been is Council Bluffs Iowa, and still never been to Colorado. :)

Then also the members we're living with are out of town this week, so I haven't officially met them yet (I think I met the wife briefly when I was on exchanges, but I can't remember). So of course, because they're gone, already their dog has ran away (and was later found by a vet, thank heavens), and a bird ran into their back door window and completely cracked it and it's now on the verge of shattering. Life is never boring at Fairview. :)
